Are You My Soul Mate?

I’m always dumbfounded when someone walks up to me and declares that they either have not found their soul mate or says, “There are no soul mates out there for me.”

Obviously, they don’t know how to look for the signs or how to read them once they do find them. There are millions, maybe even trillions, of people in the world who have soul mates, and there are clues within these soul mate relationships which could help you find yours. I am going to explain these clues so that you will find your soul mate(s), too.

Clue #1: Spiritual intuition

You see a nice looking fellow standing in line at the grocery store who has such spark and charisma and you wonder what it is about him that catches your attention. Is it his appearance? His charm? His funny way of cocking his head while conversing with the cashier?

You want to learn more about him. You have this pull towards him, yet you do nothing. You leaf through a magazine, appearing to be invisible, yet you yearn to walk right up to the stranger and introduce yourself. By the time you have found the nerve, he has checked out and is on his way to his car (and out of your life!).

What was that, you wonder?

That was one of your soul mates that you just let get away.

How do I know that?

Spiritual intuition is the number one sign to look for when confronting a possible soul mate. It is your innerself bonding with the spiritual insides of another. The bond is invisible, yet it lies deep within you and cannot be mistaken. It is that strong pull you feel towards another. Unfortunately, if you don’t take action when this happens, you will let your possible soul mate get away and you will have destroyed what could have been a long, happy relationship.

Clue #2: Positive karma

Janice works long hours at the newspaper office after the breakup of her long eighteen-year marriage to Matt, an abusive alcoholic who didn’t have anything better to do than knock Janice and their three kids around when he was on his drinking sprees.

To ease the pain, she works constantly, keeping her mind off her past and providing a comfortable living for her and her three children. She has succeeded in getting rid of the negativity in her life and is working on the positive.

Mark, also divorced, can be found working alongside her most days, trying to make deadlines and shielding himself from the memories of his own troubled marriage.

Neither dates, but feels comfortable in maintaining a friendly relationship with one another in the safety of their work environment.

Is this a soul mate union bound to happen?

Both are emitting positive karma towards the other and, yes, a soul mate bond is, most definitely, in the future. This is an example of the karmic soul mate relationship. All signs look good towards it becoming more, but meanwhile what they have is one of the richest relationships you could ask for.

Friends—close friends—are one of the most important of the soul mate relationships out there. This is the bond that ties two perfectly ordinary people together with no strings attached. What other kind of relationship allows you to do what you want, when you want, with no questions asked?

Will this relationship turn into something more? It is very possible that, over time, once everyone has healed from past relationships, Janice and Mark will find out that being friends is the first requisite to finding lifelong commitment, if that is what they are both looking for. Only time will tell, but don’t ignore these close relationships. They are necessary for your happiness, well-being, and your search for self-fulfillment.

Clue #3: Being in the right place at the right time

They say timing is everything and it couldn’t be truer than for the soul mate relationship.

Melissa was a college student studying for her law degree, something she wanted more than life itself.

Jeff was a student at the same college aiming for a degree in anthropology that was taking too long to acquire, in his opinion, but he was determined he was going to have that piece of paper if it took a lifetime to acquire.

While both took classes at the same school, they would frequently find themselves at the same social functions and parties. While there was an evident spark whenever the two were around each other, both had their hearts set on their own goals of finishing college and starting with their career plans before settling into cozy relationships. In essence, they were still looking for their own self-fulfillment before they could be available to fulfill others.

Five years after Melissa graduated and was comfortably situated into her own practice, she had the surprise of her life when Jeff happened to walk into her law office asking for advice. Imagine his surprise when he found out this was the same Melissa that he had a secret crush on all those years!

I’m happy to report that Melissa and Jeff picked up right where they left off, as if time had never passed. Next June, there will be a formal wedding and a reception held at the same college where they both met.

Sometimes you have to remember that even though your potential soul mate might cross your path at some point in time, there may be extenuating circumstances which will prevent the union from happening, but when the time is right and everything falls into place, it will happen. Patience is a virtue and when the signs all point to go, nothing can be more fulfilling than the soul mate relationship.

Dump My Boyfriend

I came across a real fun site tonight called "Dump My Boyfriend." I was browsing through PRWeb tonight and came across their press release and I just had to visit. As a relationship expert, I found it kind of fun to just let loose and read the stories to decide whether they should dump their boyfriends or keep them. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants - Perfect Karmic Soul Mate Movie!

The blockbuster summer movie of the year has without a doubt got to be "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."

But, what intrigues me as a soul mate relationship expert is the fact that this is the perfect karmic soul mate movie. If you have no idea what a karmic soul mate relationship is all about, see this movie.

In The Post Standard, Entertainment Columnist Joan E. Vadeboncoeur, agrees.

She says:

The foursome, now 16, have been friends since before birth. Lena is shy and wouldn't wear jeans if someone offered her big bucks. Bridget, whose mother has recently died and whose dad is distant, pursues a hunky youth with the intensity she gives to soccer. Carmen has family issues, too. Her father surprises her with a ready-made family that denies her and her Latina mother. Finally, there is the cynical Tibby, stuck in a boring job while trying to become creative as a filmmaker.

They don't seem to be soul mates. But they are, especially after they find a magical pair of jeans that fits each, despite their varying sizes. So, they agree to pass them around as they vacation far from each other and report their experiences when they mail the jeans.

Sounds like a good movie to me and one in which I know I'll not miss!

On Again, Off Again Relationships - The Debate Continues...

Two days ago, I answered a question to someone who was wondering about their on again, off again relationships. Already the controversy has begun. Here's one of their replies:

""soul-mate expert"?? WTF?? How new-agey-pretentious is that??"

O...kay, let the controversy begin.

Instead of getting angry, I smiled - well, I smirked actually - because it's obvious this was where I needed to begin my crusade to prove that this isn't a profession to laugh at and should be taken seriously. I'm figuring I'm dealing with someone very young who has not had enough relaationships to realize that this is serious business to me or has been too burned to even know that if they just learned the secrets - and I was willing to share, no doubt - their lives would be so much happier.

My response:

O.....kay...tough bunch. Okay, let me explain. There are relationship
experts and there are soul mate experts. The trouble with labeling this gift as
"new agey" perhaps puts in some people's minds that it's something related to
outer space or something and that's not true. Read Edgar Cayce. He was a pioneer
in the field. I do not try to help you find your lover in ten days or less nor
do I try to help you find the top twenty ways to find out your boyfriend is
cheating on you. You can find that in Cosmo. It's simple really. I help you
understand what the soul mate experience is all about. Throw a question at me
and I'll be more than happy to explain it in detail. Dorothy

On Again, Off Again Relationships

I had a complexing question asked of me the other day. Here is the question:

Does anyone know if these ever work out (on again, off again relationships)? Can people eventually get it together and have a lasting relationship, or is it just a colossal waste of time?

Ah, romance. Don't we just love it when it keeps coming back to you over and over again - and you say why in the world can't we just get it together or call it quits?

And here is my answer:

On again, off again relationships are very common. I've been in a few
myself. What I didn't know back then - and which I'm going to explain to you now
- is that there was a significant reason that this happens.

First of all, you are soul mates. What? you scream. Let me explain.

This person that keeps coming in your life is doing so for a reason that
maybe he/she doesn't even realize herself/himself. It's all part of the plan -
dig? Oops, my age is showing.

Okay, when you were born, you did not know this, of course, but there were
already people/animals (stop sighing, there's a point to this) that were meant
to come into your life for reasons and that was for you to grow with each
reason/lesson that they were brought into your life for.

With that said, once you uncover the reason and learn from it, your
relationship will grow. If you do not learn and choose to look elsewhere for
your potential soul mates, of course that relationship is doomed.

Now, the question. Why is he/she still coming back in your life? Well, it's
all part of the karmic plan. The karma must be cleared up in order for this to
work. Once it has been cleared, it's happy days ahead. So, she/he keeps coming
back because it's meant to be cleared - and all part of your life's destiny.

My advice to you is this. When you hit that block - you'll know it when you
hit it - instead of becoming angry, why don't you two sit down and work the
karma out? It's evident to me that you two are meant to be together.

There are reasons that even we can't understand sometimes of why this
happens, but once you understand that it's all part of the karmic lessons in
life, you'll grow from this. Good luck!

How I Became a Soul Mate Expert

Yesterday, in one of my online groups, someone questioned my abilities as a soul mate expert.

According to my website, she claimed, there was nothing proving my abilities only that I was self-professed to be one.

At first, I couldn't understand why she was questioning my abilities until it dawned on me that she was right. I do not have a diploma stating that I graduated from so-and-so university, so why would people actually believe what I had to say had any merit?

I know and I'll explain.

There are some people out there - many actually - that are born with a gift. It might be the ability to see things that aren't there or even the ability to perceive things they have no way of knowing. It was about two years ago or so when I had the privilege of talking to well-known psychic, Robert Egby, who actually teaches those who seek to learn how to become a psychic by trade.

In one of our online conversations, I happen to ask him if he were wearing brown shoes. He answered, "yes." I also asked him if there was a gold framed picture on the wall near him and, again, he said, "yes." He asked me why I asked.

I told him because in talking to him, I could "see" these things and wanted to know if perhaps they were definitely there.

He then told me that I had the gift of spacial clairsentience. I asked him what it means and he said "to see afar things that aren't in front of you."

I thought that was interesting as I had found one of my gifts that my creator had bestowed upon me.

It was after this conversation when I wondered just how many people out there had gifts and didn't even know it.

My ability to know about the soul mate theory is correlated to this gift.

Ever since Mr. Egby and I spoke, I delved into my innerself - with meditations and private soul talks within myself. After my twin soul died, I tended to do this quite often and chose a corner of my little heaven on earth - underneath the pines overlooking the gigantic corn field - and while I was sitting there, listening to the sea gulls flap and cry overhead, I knew that this was what I was intended to do.

It was then that I understood why I had experienced good relationships, bad relationships and in between - and after fifty years of doing this, I found the wisdom to try to help people with their own relationships, but it went deeper than that.

Before my twin soul died, I wasn't what you would call a spiritual sort of person. I was a fly by the seat of my pants type of girl and figured everything that was happening to me - bad and good - was just a part of life. However, after he died, I questioned my spirituality. How could my creator bring someone in my life and take him away just like that?

I happened to be in a bookstore on vacation and I picked up a book called EDGAR CAYCE ON SOUL MATES by Kevin J. Todesh and I read it. That book helped open my eyes to the reason why my twin soul came into my life, and then so abruptly left it.

He was my twin soul.

Now, I thought, what about the others in my life who at the time I just knew they were the ones for me? Didn't they start out with high hopes and a bright future? Didn't I love them just as much?

That was when I started reading everything I could get my hands on to explain what this soul mate thing was all about - and that was the beginning of becoming an expert in my field.

I don't believe that everything you find out in life can be found in text books and a lot is learned through life experiences and tuning into your innerself. I also don't believe you need a college education to know that this can't be learned through intuition and an incredible foresight. Experience plays a major role in becoming good at what you do. They say practice makes perfect and I believe if you believe in yourself, you will find the answers to what you are looking for. The key is to find out how to unlock that door.

I've talked to people who are looking for their soul mate and they tell me that after all their searching, they still can't find theirs and this makes me sad because I know there are soul mates out there for them. Danger girl? Okay, yes, friends to all...spreading love and happiness wherever I go. But, danger girl?

Does this mean that I will go faster than a speeding bullet, jump higher than the tallest mountain and go to the extreme to make sure that people find love and happiness? Reckon so.

It absolutely kills me when someone says they don't have a soul mate. I actually start quivering. To me, that would mean that in all their lives, they have never met anyone that was special to them. And that is really, really sad. Of course, they're wrong.

Some people harbor such negativity within themselves that they shut these people out of their life and what happens then is that they have missed out on that one chance for love and happiness. What makes them so closed-minded?

Hurt. They close their hearts to shield the pain. Sort of like a comfort zone.

When they get to this point, it would take more than a million bulldozers to break down that wall.

Sure, we don't want to be hurt. But, that's the risk you take. It's far better to be loved than never to be loved at all. Didn't invent that saying, but you get the point.

Open your heart. Don't close it to all the wonderful possiblities you have out there. If everyone closed their hearts to love and didn't take that risk, we would be a world of zombies. Now, what do you want people to think of you as--a zombie or a soul mate?

Are You Romantic or Realistic?

I found a neat website today called Blogthings. They have a variety of little quizzes you can take such as: What year do you belong in? (1970 for me, which I thought was so ironic since that's the decade so many changes took place...high school graduation, marriage, Bicentennial and camping out at Kickapoo Park in Illinois to wish America a Happy Birthday), What age are you? (18 for me which means I never grew up), What kind of intelligence do you have? (my intelligence was linguistic intelligence which meant I was excellent with words...that fact is true as I'm an author and a relationship columnist).

There's more quizzes to take which are loads of fun, but I found the "Are you romantic or realistic" test right up my alley. After taking it, I found that I am 60% more romantic than everybody else. Kinda neat!

Ahh..a new blog. This new blog was conceived because I thought it was time for me to have a place to discuss soul mates exclusively. There are so many things to be explained about soul mates and it was clogging up my other blog, The Writing Life of Dorothy Thompson, so here we go.

I do hope that everyone is having a nice Valentine's Day! Just remember that every day is Valentine's Day--never take your soul mate(s) for granted and give them a special hug every day that you are lucky enough to be with them.

For some, this day is not a happy one. They have given up on love and I think that is a dreadful thing. It's one thing to find happiness within yourself, but another to completely block out those special people in your life--yes, they are there.

Some people wouldn't know a soul mate if it knocked them in the head. Open your eyes, your heart, your soul to those around you. Soul mates are not out to hurt you. They are out to help you carry on your natural life's path. They are meant to come into your life for reasons and that is to make you whole.

In order for your soul mate to come into your life, several things must be considered, which we'll talk about as time goes on. This is what this blog is for--to help you understand this crazy world of soul mates and to help you find yours.

An unhappy heart is an empty heart. Don't push potential soul mates away. Let them come into your life and reap the benefits. These are your life lessons. Without them, you will never get to that place called self-fufillment.
